“Women are not visual”, “Women will never watch porn”, yet here we are 21 plus years later having created an adult site geared towards women. We were interviewed by ETTech about Virtual Reality, and if we felt it was the ticket to growth for the adult industry, regardless of who your audience was.

With the advent of tube sites, and free porn taking over the market, we needed something that would bring customers back. Something unique and different. We felt that Virtual Reality was just the thing. The porn industry has always been on the cutting edge of technology, whether it was programming, backend support, traffic generation or affiliate programs. As an industry, we are always taking the risks first.

Some areas of the adult industry are affected more than others when it comes to access free pornography, but the bottom line is it hurts our button line. Joking aside. As a female entrepreneur, owning a site where we develop content geared towards women, we are not considered of big porn company and the availability of free pornography really does hurt us. So we have hung a lot of hopes for VR.

“VR is the current game changer and at which point the technology of live video sex on VR headsets becomes available, a whole new world opens up,” says Rowntree, adding that the immersive technology can take adult storytelling to new highs. “If the performers walk up a hillside, you get to follow them up, and look at the grass beneath your feet and the sky above you. You also get to see what’s behind you. There’s an amazing freedom of movement.”

Have we conquered VR? No. Have we overcome the issues with VR (headsets not fitting women well). No. We still have a ways to go and AR (augmented reality) is right behind it. But first, we need to tackle 4K. Which brings with it a whole new set of problems, starting with media and storage. But as we have said many times, we are a part of an industry that is known for its innovation and this to will be resolved.

It will be interesting to see what gets thrown at us next.
