Interviews We Love

A fun interview with Cheex. This interview was released in 2017

4. Rashida Jones is a well-known Hollywood actress and producer of the Netflix documentary Hot Girls Wanted, which critically examines the lives of 18 and 19-year-old amateur porn actresses. In an interview she said that she finds sssh.com, in contrast, justifiable and even good. What makes your porn movies different from others?

I have always insisted on ethical production in any adult endeavor of mine, and I’m proud to say that I am a founding member and curator of Ethical.porn, and have received the APAC (Adult Performer Advocacy Committee) stamp of approval.

This means that consent is always at the forefront of what you see on Sssh.com; every sex scene is negotiated prior to the shoot, and performers are free to say no or stop at any time, should they become uncomfortable. No one is ever asked to do something they did not agree to.

Whenever possible, I love to shoot with real-life couples, so that the chemistry on-screen is as authentic as possible. However, if that isn’t possible, then we find scene partners who are comfortable with each other and fully consent to shooting together—I always want my performers to feel safe and have fun when they work with Sssh.com.

Additionally, I always encourage performer creativity and collaboration throughout the process. If they have ideas for enhancing the scene and making their character shine through more, then I’m all ears!

5. What is feminist porn to you?

First, I’d have to back up and tell you what I think feminism means. In my view, feminism is about women making their own choices, being treated equally under the law, and having our autonomy respected. In the context of porn, I would say the same ideas broadly apply: every woman has the right to express her sexuality in the legal way that feels right for her. Every woman has the autonomy to explore her desires and draw boundaries that feel right for her. In other words, my idea of feminist porn means that women are equal sexual beings to men, and just as deserving of pleasure and consideration.

6. Can I be a feminist and still enjoy hardcore or mainstream porn?

YES of course! Now, the problem with the term “feminist porn” is that some people might see the label and just use it as another means of pigeonholing female sexuality. In other words, “feminist porn” does not necessarily denote “softcore” or “just missionary,” because women are just as sexually diverse and complex as men are in terms of what they enjoy. My member surveys and research keeps proving this to me over and over. I think it is wrong to try and “box in” or put limits around anyone’s sexual expression; doing so is antithetical to the very idea of feminism.
