Interviews We Love

This interview appeared in "Scandalous Women Magazine" as the cover feature. It was about 'Empowering Ava - A Virtual Reality Experience", starred Ava Ava Mir-Ausziehen and Lance Hart from Pervout.com. "Empowering Ava was our first full 360 VR movie

4. What first inspired you to create erotic films for women?

It goes back to when I first got involved in the online adult entertainment industry, and one of the first things which really struck me about the market was there was almost no adult content available which seemed like it was really made with women in mind. There were a few early trailblazers, like Candida Royalle, but, for the most part, the market was completely dominated by porn made for men and reflective of male fantasies, desires, and pleasure. Back then, everybody told me there was no such thing as women who wanted to watch porn, and making porn with a female audience in mind was a waste of time, effort, and money. Here were are, almost 20 years later and Sssh is still going strong.

5. Please tell us more about your stars, the gorgeous Lance and Ava!

The thing which really stands out for me about Lance and Ava is the chemistry between them, and how quickly and naturally it developed. Ava wrote about the experience and said that for the first time, she felt like she’d had sex with her on-screen partner, as opposed to merely working together to make a movie in which two people are depicted having sex. What’s really interesting is she felt the technology allowed them to truly connect and enjoy each other without interruption. VR is something which carries over to the other side of the screen, so to speak, making it a different sort of experience for the performers as well, not just for viewers.

6. Your film involves the practice of pegging. Do you find that more of your female readers have an interest in pegging, and that they find it empowering?

Yes, we’ve received a fair amount of feedback to that effect. It’s more than just a “turning of the tables” where penetration is concerned, too; I think a lot of women find both vulnerability and open-mindedness to be attractive traits in men – and it’s hard to think of a more vulnerable position or one that requires more of an open mind from a man, than being on the receiving end of pegging. I think it’s a depiction that communicates more control and agency than we’re used to seeing female characters in porn have, which makes it appealing.

7. How can feminist erotic authors and filmmakers get involved in Sssh.com?

Sssh.com is built on the diversity of other people’s imagination and fantasies. Whether it’s the written word, or a sexual desire that someone would like to explore or see depicted on film, we encourage everyone to share. You can contact us at editor@sssh.com or DM me on twitter @AngieRowntree.
