FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOSTON (December 19, 2013) - Sssh.com has announced the winner of its Philanthropic Donation Program for November, as chosen monthly by the site's community members: Congalese music group The Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste.
Sssh.com will grant a portion of the site's November's profits to Central Africa's only symphony orchestra – and the world's only all-black orchestra – to assist in the building of a music school in the Congo's capital city of Kinshasa. This area is among the poorest on the planet , and the 200+ members of the orchestra and choir rely on donations for support.
"With the holidays upon us, it's important to spread the word about giving to charitable organizations," said Sssh.com founder Angie Rowntree. "We often get caught up in our day-to-day lives, but during this season of giving we stop and reflect on how lucky we are to have so much, while so many others do not."
In September Sssh.com's community members voted to donate to humanitarian group Doctors Without Borders, the global organization helping those in urgent need of medical aid; in October Puppies Behind Bars, the coalition that trains inmates to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and law enforcement was the members' choice.
"Our goal with this company was to create an unrestricted online structure that would bring together positive, like-minded women with a focus on their adventurous fantasies," said Rowntree, "but we have found much more in our group¦ a real willingness to share, support and give. I'm proud of what Sssh.com has become - and is becoming - every day."
Sssh.com's members will select each month's beneficiary - giving women a voice in ensuring dollars go where they will do the most good.
Each month's beneficiary will be announced at the beginning of the following month. Organizations and foundations that would like to be included may email editor (at) sssh (dot) com.
